Proud to be the one to knock up the poster for Shady Pines 10 Year Birthday. Tried to recreate the feeling of some of those old painted Spaghetti Western movie posters.

So pumped to get to do the key art fore the Sydney Underground Film Festival. One of my favourite events in Sydney. The idea was to have a nutso film machine spewing out crazy films for people to digest.

This was a fun one! Did this bonkers work for MCP’s new single that launched last week. Has been getting some great review online, go here and listen. Idea for this piece was to just go nutso on the 80s action movie, B-movie vibe. Colourful and crazy.

Poster for Frankies Pizza for their official Metallica preshow party. The idea of this poster was to recreate the iconic Black album artwork with the snake coiled up.

Had to turn this around in under a day so I think it turned out pretty sick considering.

Key art for NIDA’s 2020 programs. Was great working on these as there were a lot of different genres and themes to explore. All of these were digitally painted in Photoshop or Clip Studio.

Music video for the fictional band that features in Wintergarden Digitals web series “Ding Dong I’m Gay”. This was a blast to do. The idea was to try and emulate all the cheesey 60s and 70s animated shows that used pretty crappy animation but had a great style anyway.

Album artwork for Lemon Tree’s release of their single ‘Kills my Thunder’. Brief was to reference all the over the top macho 80s action flicks like Commando, Rambo II etc. Check them out here

Key art for some of the shows from NIDA’s Digital Theatre Festival. This was a tricky project as the shows were still being developed as I was creating the artworks.

NIDA’s trailblazing Digital Theatre Festival was an ambitious reimagining of the storytelling landscape. Six world premieres were created specifically for the online space, and were highly interactive and often transmedia in nature.

Key Art for Ding Dong I’m Gay. A webseries by Wintergarden Digital. The show centres around a young adult who leaves his country surrounds to come to the city, come out to his gay cousin and learn the ropes. Go have a look at it here. Its really funny and was a blast to work on.

Poster comps for Jazz January event that ran at Restaurant Hubert. A lot didn’t make the cut but I really liked them.

Poster for a sweet event a Frankies Pizza. Goon Squad featuring members of Alice Coopers band. Idea was to rip on old VHS covers, with that cutout collage look.

Fun little gifs for that I did for M35 for Google to populate the Create with Google website. Some great direction from the guys at M35 to create these little simple animations that added a bit of movement to the website.

Commission for a good friend and Pacino freak who wanted a good Scent of a Woman poster as the official poster is pretty ho hum. Recreates the iconic dancing scene that highlights the complicated nature of Frank’s existence.

Included some colour treatments that didn’t make the cut but I like anyway.

Poster for Frankie’s Pizza’s Father Day party. Recreating one of the iconic scenes from Creepshow. Used some packs from True Grit Texture Supply to get the vintage roughed up look.

Gig poster for Frankie’s Pizza for their Doomed event on Australia Day. Zombie shark on a shitty night on the sea. I really liked the splashy waves over the top of the shark. I think they turned out well.

Alternate movie poster for the 1974 film The Conversation. Probably my favourite movie of all time. An incredible character study, amazing performance by Gene Hackman and a masterfully directed by Coppola at the height of his powers.

Alternate poster for the movie Running Man. Just a self directed project to test out some digital painting tools but after I got stuck in I couldn’t stop.

The movie is made in the 80’s but set in 2019 so its very funny to watch these days.

This was a wild one to draw. Trying to showcase the best of Sports from 2016 in one image. Some worthy people missed out but it was a wild year for sports. 

Poster for Frankie's Pizza 4th Birthday. A big gross Venice Skate face is the prefect match for the gross units at Frankie's. Also designed a shirt based on the face which ended up looking siiiiick.

More beer illustrations for Frankie's Pizza and their beer festival they have coming up. First is a homage to the Bloodsucking Freaks movie, trying to vibe the style of old VHS covers. 

Zoophilia was more a take on botanical and art nouveau style prints. 

Illustration for a high school workbook exploring the themes of knowledge and power. This was done for AIME that is a terrific organisation that mentors indigenous school kids. This was really fun to draw. 

Illustrations for Unibet Australia and their UFC 196 coverage. 

These are kind of tricky because they post them as soon as the result happens so I have to do them in advance which is why there is a drawing of them winning and losing. 

Done in Manga Studio 5 with Ray Frendens brushes. 

Illustrations for Unibet Australia's Superbowl 50 coverage. Needed to draw both sides victorious so they could use the correct winner. Somewhere in another dimension Cam Newton got it done.

Limited edition poster for a special screening of a Messi documentary in collaboration with New Albion Sports.  You can buy a copy of the print from here. 

The idea for the poster comes from Messi's nickname La Pulga Atomica, or the Atomic Flea. He got this nickname due to his diminutive size and his high levels of radiation. In my version he is using his Atomic powers to completely explode past his defenders. 

I also put up some concept sketches (because I always like to see these) including a different version of the poster. 

Album artwork for Chad Helman’s Boiling point. Poor old skeleton working his bones off in the back of a pub. All he wants to do is shred. The artwork wraps around from front to back on the album.

Crazy poster I did for Frankie's Pizza's 3rd Birthday party.  Based on Giovanni Da Modena's painting of Dante's Inferno it places the staff of Frankie's inside the crazy hellscape. There are a bunch of funny details that were requested and it was a blast to draw. 

Beer Tap labels for Frankie's Pizza as part of Sydney Craft Beer week. I wish I could draw beer all the time.

Amazing Sports Stories is a series of one page comics for New Albion Sports in collaboration with my good mate James. Each volume tells the story of a great or humorous moment in the sporting world.

Editorial Illustration for an article that was published on New Albion Sports. The article was a great peice on the scoring title race between David Robinson and Shaq. My take on the race was to have Robinson as an Admiral standing on the deck of a ship lining the flamboyant Shaq up in his sights. 

This was my print for the Suburban Legends exhibition put on by The Distillery. 

13 Artists were asked to produce a poster based on a suburb that meant something to them. I chose Ashfield which is close to where I grew up in Burwood. A lot of inner west pubs (especially in Ashfield) around the time I turned 18 transformed into these gigantic poker machine warehouses. The pub area would continually shrink while the pokie room continually expanded. My poster depicted what seems like the logical evolution of this expansion.

Kirin Cider had brought out a new Cider range and had teamed up with couple of different artists to showcase what they do and why they do it. 

For a day they came in and filmed me to show the process of Letterpress printing. We talked about the history of Letterpress printing and why we do what we do at The Distillery. Kirin had designed some coasters to be printed and I was filmed showing the whole process from start to finish. Check out the video it came together really well.

A poster created for The Distillery's Frontiers collection. This was inspired by pioneering visionaries such as Copernicus, Galileo as well as a general wonderment of the sky seen in classical paintings. Each planet is represented by the Gods they are named after however there is a small modern alteration to each one. They sit in orbit around the sun in the middle.

"There can be no understanding between the hand and the brain unless the heart acts as mediator" – Maria, from Fritz Lang’s Metropolis

A poster produced for The Distillery's Frontiers collection. This was inspired by futuristic dystopian works like Metropolis funnelled through a neon art deco style. 

Fritz Lang’s 1927 silent film classic Metropolis spun an epic narrative within a futurist dystopia. Its bleak vision of the modern city, whose inhabitants are reduced to robotic clones trapped in the monotony of work, is rearticulated in this piece. Beset by the perils of the industrial revolution, humanity must learn to be human again.

A nice little card produced for the Distillery's Frontiers collection. The idea for this came after I saw some old photographs of lamp lighters who would light the cities gas lamps. 

This is hand printed on our beautiful old Heidelberg Letterpress. 4 colour runs on 100% cotton rag.

As one of the more interesting projects I have worked on at The Distillery I was given the task of re-imaging the drawings of an 8 year old boy. As his father tells it Orson re-imagined Rudyard Kipling’s original poem ‘If’. He then drew pictures to accompany his words on post-it notes then gave it to this father almost as an aside. It is full of the craziness and inventiveness that makes up a young kids mind. 

Some time later Orson’s father approached The Distillery to reinterpret the story for him to create a book and poster that he could keep forever. I was tasked with the entire project and it was one of the funnest things I've ever worked on. The idea was to take the essence of his drawings (which you can see in the sketches) while building something magical to accompany the amazing absurdity of his ideas. 

The drawings were collected into a nice little book as well as being collaged together into a 3 colour letterpress poster. 

I still like his drawings better than mine. 

A poster design for an Open Studio at The Distillery. 

The theme was creativity and was designed to inspire people who came to the studio to think outside the box. 

Letterpress drink coasters printed on 850gsm 'Wild' cotton rag in two colours.

Each coaster represents the Sun and one of the planets of our Solar System (sorry Pluto). Put a Pot of tea in the middle and lay out the rest of the coasters to make the Solar System.

Part of the Christmas set that I produced for The Distillery. The idea behind the set to focus on things that made Christmas unique to people that live in Australia. Sick of getting cards that featured snow and freezing temperatures I decided it would be great to see some things on cards that really felt like Christmas to people in Australia. 

This card featured the prawn that is a staple at Christmas day lunch. Parts of the card are foiled with the rest being a two colour letterpress.

This card features the Christmas Beetle which is a little beetle that comes out around Christmas time, some are really beautiful. Parts of the card are foiled with the rest being a two colour letterpress.

This card featured the the Green Grocer cicada which was always a big part of the summertime when I was growing up. As the sun went down their chirping was deafening and the tree out the front was always littered with their discarded shells that you could pick off the tree and wear like a badge. Parts of the card are foiled with the rest being a two colour letterpress. 

A collaborative installation from The Distillery for the window of Incu at their Paddington store. The work was a collaboration between Daryl Prondoso, Elise Polito and myself. All the work was letterepressed and hand cut out which almost destroyed us. We also produced a mini print which you could pick up in store.

During the 2012 Bienale the guys at The Thousands hosted a live issue down at Walsh Bay featuring a bunch of different creatives from around Sydney. We were lucky enough to be a part of it and to give away on the night I designed this print. 

The print starts with a person made up of red and blue in correct register, then they split into two distinct colours and begin trying to kill each other.

Easter postcard for The Distillery. The design was based on Ukranian egg painting called Pysanka. Produced in two different colour combinations and letterpressed on beer mat board. 

My work for the second Without Walls show. This was the first time I had a go at making my own frames, which was fun.

Great mate Daniel Mifsud asked me to do a logo for his band for a show. This was something I had the idea for a while ago and it was great to put it into use. Inspired by my love of 90's video game beat em ups, the twisted pile of fighting bodies make up the name of the band.

Here was my first my entry for the Cricket Art Prize.

Trying to capture some of what it felt like to sit in the slips for hours and hours on a Saturday afternoon.

The tiredness. The pasty-white sunscreen mixed with the bright red sun burn. The annoyance as a terrible batter hangs around after a catch gets put down.

Wanting to get home so you could meet everyone later at the pub.

Done with pencil, paint and charcoal.

Menu designed for The Owl House for October Good Food month. It was there State on a Plate campaign and was all about introducing people to produce sourced from areas all over New South Wales. 

The menu was designed as a fantasy map, like something you might find in an old adventure tale. Each area on the map lets you know where the food you are eating came from. The map was created using a Turkish map fold which 'pops out' as you open the menu. 

This was produced as work for The Distillery

These creepy guys were for a show at The Darlo bar. Each artist was set up inside a hotel room. Some wild stuff was going on in some of the rooms. 

This is the second entry I completed for the Cricket Art Prize. The idea behind it was that a lot of time is spent at the Cricket, not actually watching the Cricket. Everyone is distracted or reading or drinking. 

It was done with pencils, paint and charcoal.
